Le 1er décembre est la Journée des Prisonniers et prisonnières pour la paix. Depuis plus de 60 ans, l'Internationale des résistant.e.s à la guerre a publié les noms et les histoires de celles et ceux emprisonné.e.s de par leurs actions en faveur de la paix. Beaucoup sont objecteurs ou objectrices de conscience, incarcéré.e.s pour leur refus d'incorporer l'armée. D'autres ont commis des actions nonviolentes pour perturber les préparatifs de guerre.

Cette journée est une opportunité de montrer son soutien envers ces personnes et leurs mouvements, en écrivant à celles et ceux privé.e.s de liberté de par leur action pour la paix.

Si, l'IRG tient à jour de manière permanente une liste des Prisonniers et prisonnières pour la paix, un effort spécifique est déployé pour qu'elle soit d'actualité à l'occasion de la Journée des prisonniers et prisonnières pour la paix, chaque 1er décembre.

1st December, Friday, is Prisoners for Peace Day, a day to show solidarity with those activists who have been imprisoned for their work for peace and conscientious objectors imprisoned for their refusal to take up arms. See a list of those imprisoned for their peace activism and conscientious objection below. We include those whose addresses we can obtain, and who are happy to have their names and stories made public.

December 1st, this Friday, is Prisoners for Peace Day. On this day (and every day) we encourage you to show solidarity with the activists and conscientious objectors imprisoned due to their peace work and their refusal to take up arms.

This year, we want to highlight the situation of many people in Russia and Ukraine that are imprisoned or facing imprisonment for resisting the current war in Ukraine.

In solidarity with prisoners for peace, WRI continues to release the list of those who are currently in prison for their conscientious objection to military service and their work for peace, and encourage everyone to write to them You can find the list here.

Conscientious objectors to military service continue to be imprisoned in many countries today. WRI regularly updates its list of imprisoned conscientious objectors and organise solidarity for them. In this story, you will see conscientious objectors who are known to be behind bars or serving in labour camps by June 2021.

Next Tuesday, 1st December, is Prisoners for Peace Day, a chance to show solidarity with conscientious objectors imprisoned for their refusal to take up arms, and those activists imprisoned for their resistance to war and militarism.

On this Prisoners for Peace Day, we feature APOCS Net's work and encourage our followers to write to Ambozinian prisoners of conscience, alongside other prisoners for peace and conscience.
