War Resisters' International needs volunteers to prepare for our presence at the European Social Forum in London, which takes place from 14-17 October 2004. We are looking for up to two volunteers to help us in the four weeks prior to the ESF, and of course also to take part in the ESF (mid-September to 18 October).

What will you be doing?

WRI and some of its European affiliates are mobilising for the ESF - the WRI office offered to coordinate some of these activities, especially to coordinate workshops at the ESF offered by WRI affiliates. WRI will also produce a broadsheet programme, promoting antimilitarist and pacifist workshops and seminars at the ESF, offered by the WRI network and other friendly organisations. In addition, the WRI website can be used as a forum for discussion and promotion of antimilitarism at the ESF.

All this requires a lot of work - for you, the volunteers.

What does WRI offer?

WRI will organise accommodation, and pays for public transport in London, plus lunches at the office during the week. We will also cover your registration fee for the European Social Forum.

We also offer a to be part of a dynamic office team, in a peace movement environment at 5 Caledonian Rd, home of WRI, Peace News, Network for Peace, Voices in the Wilderness UK and some other groups. And the experience of working in an international office.

What do we expect?

Ability to communicate and work in English (nothing has to be perfect here), and a certain degree of computer literacy. Ability to work in a team, and under pressure, especially time pressure.

Interested?

Please contact the WRI office at info@wri-irg.org, or give us a call at +44-20-7278 4040. Please let us know about your background, and why you want to volunteer at WRI.
