Ukrainian conscientious objector in court again

Ruslan Kotsaba

Conscientious objector Ruslan Kotsaba appeared in court again last week charged with obstruction of the Ukrainian armed forces. Ruslan has already been imprisoned for these "crimes". He was arrested in February 2015 and sentenced to three and a half years imprisonment. But after 524 days of pretrial detention he was released by the court of appeal in July 2016. But the High Court declared on 1 June 2017 that the case would have to be reopened.

In his appearance in court on 19th February, the court sent the case to the public prosecutor in Ivano-Frankivsk, so at the moment Ruslan is free and awaiting another court date.
