On Tuesday 18th June the UK's court of appeal has ruled that arms sales to Saudi Arabia are unlawful in an appeal brought against a previous decision by Campaign Against Arms Trade.

Almaz-Antey is the largest Russian arms company, made up of dozens of smaller companies. It is owned by the state, employs around 98,000 people, and produces a wide range of missiles, anti-aircraft systems, radars, automated turrets, naval artillery, and firearms.

Dockworkers in France have blocked a shipment of ammunition onto a ship destined for Saudi Arabia. Members of the CGT union working at the Marseille-Fos port said they would remain “faithful to their history and values of peace” as they refused to load the ammunition onto the Bahri Tabuk.

Two of the world’s largest defence companies – United Technologies and Raytheon – are planning a merger to create an “aerospace and defence powerhouse” .
