I have another question to put to anyone from Taiwan regarding the recent announcement made by the government there that from 2018 there will no longer be any military draft. Unfortunately, it's not true as young men will still be drafted for four months of military training. THIS IS NOT AN ALL-VOLUNTEER SYSTEM, by any means. But, anyway, the question is: what happens to those who refuse to serve this four-month stint? Will they face imprisonment? I hope not. They should be granted unconditional exemption just for the asking.
