Frequently-asked questions about the WRI online shop

Is my transaction secure?

Your transaction is as secure as any other "secure transaction" that takes place on the web. The secure bit of your order placing is hosted by WorldPay, a large and reputable company with tens of thousands of clients. Look out for the little padlock icon on the taskbar of your browser when it comes to making your payment. On the subject of security, WorldPay state that the process is "fully secure. Our payment system (including the payment pages) is hosted on our servers ... Transaction environment is regularly audited by the banking authorities to ensure complete security." And add that "Any communication between the shopper and WorldPay is also encrypted to the maximum strength supported by the shopper's browser using TLS or 128 Bit SSL. Shoppers are also protected from fraudulent use of their card in a 'card not present' environment, by their card issuers. The card issuers provides the right for shopper to dispute a transaction if the goods/services did not arrive or if the card was used fraudulently."

When will I receive the goods I ordered?

We have a small team of part-time and volunteer admin staff and dispatchers. Goods are normally dispatched within 7-10 days of an order being placed, and are normally shipped through Royal Mail letter or small package service. Customers outside the European postal zone can choose between surface and air shipping -- be warned that surface mail can take up to three months. If your goods have not arrived within a resonable time, please contact us at lyn@wri-irg.org.

What happens if something goes wrong?

If something goes wrong, we will endeavour to work with you to find a mutually agreeable solution. We want happy customers who will tell their friends and colleagues about the good experience of purchasing through the WRI online shop.

What if I need a refund?

If you need a refund, perhaps in the unlikely event that goods arrive damaged, we will be happy to offer a full refund. Please return the goods to War Resisters' International, 5 Caledonian Rd, London N1 9DY, Britain, providing your name, address, the approximate date you placed the order, and how you paid (webshop, cheque, etc). If you register for a WRI event and subsequently find you are unable to attend, specific refund conditions apply for each event; these conditions can be found on the relevant registration form.

Can you issue receipts for donations?

We will gladly issue you with a receipt (on request) for your donation, but be aware that War Resisters' International, as a campaigning organisation, is not a registered charity under UK law.

What happens to the data you collect about me during the transaction?

We only hold your data for the purposes of expediting your order. We will not sell or give away your details to any other party. We will retain only the most minimal information necessary for our accounting and order-tracking purposes.

What happens to the "profit" WRI makes from the sale of goods?

Income from sales and donations go into WRI's general operating budget. Conference registration fees are generally used to cover the basic costs associated with the event, including housing, food, and interepretation. In some cases, registration fees are used to cross-subsidise the participation of WRI activists from countries with weak economies and/or currencies.
