Dear readers of CO-Update.

Welcome to this issue of CO-Update - a double issue, as there won't be another CO-Update before late May/early June, as I will be traveling in Latin America, visiting CO and other groups related to WRI in Paraguay, Argentina, Colombia, and Venezuela.

The initial reason for this travel is 15 May - International Day on Conscientious Objection - which this year focuses on conscientious objection and women. War Resisters' International is co-organiser of the Asuncion Trans antimili, taking place in Paraguay on 10/11 May 2010, which explores issues of gender, sexuality, and (anti)militarism (see below). This event follows the publication of WRI's new book "Women Conscientious Objectors - An Anthology", published on 23 April 2010.

For War Resisters' International, the links between patriarchy and militarism are central to understanding and countering the sources of war. Thus, supporting women conscientious objectors, but also working towards changing masculinities and femininities, are an integral part of War Resisters' International's work against militarism and war.

To continue to do this work War Resisters' International depends on your donations. We therefore kindly ask you to donate to WRI online at wri-irg.org/en/donate-en.htm.
